Purfield "Have you ever had an author that no matter what they write you just can't wait to devour it? I have had only a handful of authors that do it for me. M.E. is one of those authors." - Fallen Over Books. "(A Black Deeper Than Death)...has all the gritty, urban noir elements - crime scenes, dark streets and darker intentions. But we also have a few typical elements from YA Paranormal too...I didn't guess the killer - there were so many twists and turns in this though, I'm not surprised!" - Vee Bookish, YA Book Blogger

Extensive introductory and concluding sections guide students through the key debates and themes. Places Through the Body draws on a wide range of contemporary examples and creative ideas to address such topics as: * How racist ideologies are embedded in modern architechtural discourse and practice * How urban spaces make bodies disabled * How the seemingly virtual worlds of knowledge and technology are embodied * How gyms enable women body builders to make new kinds of bodies * How male bodies are placed onto the silver screen * New kinds of femininity Here geographers, architects, anthropologists, artists, film theorists, theorists of cultural studies and psycho-analysis work alongside each other to make clear connections between bodies and places.

Book Synopsis Drawing (...) City (...) Body, Dwelling on Earth by : Pedro António Janeiro

Download or read book Drawing (...) City (...) Body, Dwelling on Earth written by Pedro António Janeiro. This book was released on 2019-01-08. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This international seminar’s fifth edition, dedicated to the theme Desenho (...) Cidade (...) Corpo, Habitando a Terra (Drawing [...] City [...] Body, Inhabiting the Earth) was held as a joint activity between: this C.I.A.U.D./F.A./U.Lisboa Research Project, the University of São Paulo, represented by the Maria Antônia University Centre, and the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora. Its objectives were threefold: To discuss how Drawing in/of the City and the elements that identify it (geographical area, inhabitants, natural landscape and/or built landscape; present, desired or memorable facts and data) are represented and identified through the presence and/or action of the body, in the form of gestures, movements, interventions, displacements or permanence. To problematise the association between Drawing and City from the starting point of the perception of the Body, assuming this mediation as a condition for the particular construction of that relationship. To identify the presence of the Body in the Representations/Drawings of the City, submitting this event or phenomenon to analysis, aiming for cognitive production. The contributions will be of interest to artists, academics and professionals in the fields of drawing and the arts, architecture, sociology, philosophy, urbanism and design.
