Book excerpt: This text is the second part of a series I’m writing on ORBAT of Chinese Armed Forces. It covers Chinese Radar and long range Surface To Air Missile sites. Most f these units are quite easy to spot on most earth imaging services like Google Earth and their locations hardly ever change or do so over the course of a few months or even years. So this is one low hanging fruit I am finishing with earlier. This monograph contains a list of 490+ Radar, 200+ long ranged SAMs and related units marked and located on the map. Links for Google Earth maps are provided. One issue with this data is dated ORBAT (Order of Battle) which is based on old and partial information. There is a fair bit of information available about some of the Chinese forces after the reforms of 2017. But I haven’t been able to find any updated and reliable source of information about how the Radar and SAM units have been reorganised. While going through this document, you’ll find a few missing columns and some marked with symbol ^. It just means that the information presented there is a best guess or based on unreliable information. I hope to cover the missing parts and add some more information in the final release, a few months from now.
