Book Synopsis Cellular and Molecular Approaches to Regeneration and Repair by : Paul A. Lapchak

Download or read book Cellular and Molecular Approaches to Regeneration and Repair written by Paul A. Lapchak. This book was released on 2017-11-04. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses recent advances in the field of translational stroke research. The editors have designed the book to provide new insight into the importance of regeneration and repair mechanisms for stroke victims. The editors have brought together a talented group of international stroke researchers and clinicians to contribute to this volume, which is written for students, researchers and physicians in biotechnology, neurosciences, neurology, neuroradiology and neurosurgery. Throughout the world, stroke is still a leading cause of mortality and morbidity; there are 152,000 strokes in the United Kingdom, 62,000 in Canada, and approximately 15 million people worldwide. Large communities of stroke survivors are eagerly awaiting scientific advances in translational stroke research related to regeneration and recovery of function that would offer new therapeutics for rehabilitation and regeneration utilizing novel stem cell and molecular-based approaches. This volume will allow the reader to undersnd the future of stroke treatment from its inception in the laboratory through to clinical trial design. The reader will learn about the recent advances made in these areas related to basic and applied stroke research and their translational potential. Dr. Paul A. Lapchak is Professor of Neurology and Director of Translational Research in the Departments of Neurology & Neurosurgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles CA, USA. Dr. Lapchak is an internationally recognized expert conducting translational drug development research for ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. Dr. John H. Zhang is Professor of Anesthesiology, Neurosurgery, Neurology, and Physiology, and Director, Center for Neuroscience Research at Loma Linda University School of Medicine, Loma Linda, CA, USA. Dr. Zhang is an internationally recognized expert working on drug development for hemorrhagic stroke.

Book Synopsis Wound Regeneration and Repair by : Robert G. Gourdie

Download or read book Wound Regeneration and Repair written by Robert G. Gourdie. This book was released on 2013-09-13. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Wound Regeneration and Repair: Methods and Protocols, expert researchers in the field detail classical and cutting-edge methods for studying wound healing and regeneration. These techniques include cellular and molecular methods, genetic approaches, surgical procedures, clinical advances, drug discovery and delivery modalities, animal and humanized models and new applications in the treatment of pathological wounds in a variety of organs and tissues. Written in the highly successful Methods in Molecular Biology series format, chapters include an introduction to their respective topics, a detailed list of the necessary materials and reagents for each procedure, step-by-step, reproducible laboratory protocols, and a set notes, developed by the authors, for troubleshooting and avoiding known pitfalls. Authoritative and practical, Wound Regeneration and Repair: Methods and Protocols seeks to aid scientists and entrepreneurs in their further study of technologies, models, techniques, and critical new areas and approaches to clinical and commercial translation of research.

Download or read book Cellular and Molecular Basis of Regeneration written by Patrizia Ferretti. This book was released on 1998-05-29. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Provides an extensive overview of the fundamental issues of regeneration, and surveys selected models throughout phylogenesis. Eighteen contributions integrate information obtained from anatomical and experimental embryology studies with that derived from cellular and molecular approaches, and genetics. The emphasis throughout is on how information accumulating from each of the models discussed is shedding light both on the mechanisms underlying regeneration, and on whether and how this could be translated into clinical practice. Book Synopsis Principles of Regenerative Biology by : Bruce M. Carlson

Download or read book Principles of Regenerative Biology written by Bruce M. Carlson. This book was released on 2011-10-10. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the explosion of knowledge from molecular biology and the burgeoning interest in generating or regenerating tissues or organs through various bioengineering or stem cell approaches, many scientists and students have shown a renewed interest in the phenomenon of regeneration. Because relatively few have had the luxury of being able to approach the phenomenon of regeneration from a broad biological perspective, Dr. Carlson has produced a book that outlines the fundamental principles of regeneration biology. Subject matters focus principally on regeneration in vertebrate systems, but also invertebrate regeneration. In order to manipulate regenerative processes, it is important to understand the underlying principles of regeneration. Principles of Regnerative Biology is the key introductory reference for all developmental biologists, geneticists, and tissue and stem cell researchers. - Creates a general understanding of one of the most fascinating and complex phenomena in biology - Discusses the ability and diversity of regeneration in various organisms - Explains the history and origins of cells in regenerating systems - Includes information on stem cells and its important role in regeneration
