Tennis is not now widely known, but that, and Rackets, - which we regard as perhaps the most perfect game that was ever invented, - are Games rather than Sports, and can hardly be brought within our limits. Racing, Jumping, Ball-throwing and Hammer-throw ing, and the like, have undoubtedly pushed them selves into such prominent notice in late years as to give them almost a claim to be reckoned among British Sports; but we have felt that they have fallen some what short of the necessary dignity, and have excluded them, - not altogether with a clear conscience.
