Book Synopsis Time-Space, Spiking Neural Networks and Brain-Inspired Artificial Intelligence by : Nikola K. Kasabov

Download or read book Time-Space, Spiking Neural Networks and Brain-Inspired Artificial Intelligence written by Nikola K. Kasabov. This book was released on 2018-08-29. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spiking neural networks (SNN) are biologically inspired computational models that represent and process information internally as trains of spikes. This monograph book presents the classical theory and applications of SNN, including original author’s contribution to the area. The book introduces for the first time not only deep learning and deep knowledge representation in the human brain and in brain-inspired SNN, but takes that further to develop new types of AI systems, called in the book brain-inspired AI (BI-AI). BI-AI systems are illustrated on: cognitive brain data, including EEG, fMRI and DTI; audio-visual data; brain-computer interfaces; personalized modelling in bio-neuroinformatics; multisensory streaming data modelling in finance, environment and ecology; data compression; neuromorphic hardware implementation. Future directions, such as the integration of multiple modalities, such as quantum-, molecular- and brain information processing, is presented in the last chapter. The book is a research book for postgraduate students, researchers and practitioners across wider areas, including computer and information sciences, engineering, applied mathematics, bio- and neurosciences.

Book Synopsis Brain-Inspired Intelligence and Visual Perception by : Wenfeng Wang

Download or read book Brain-Inspired Intelligence and Visual Perception written by Wenfeng Wang. This book was released on 2019-02-14. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the latest findings in the field of brain-inspired intelligence and visual perception (BIVP), and discusses novel research assumptions, including an introduction to brain science and the brain vision hypotheses. Moreover, it introduces readers to the theory and algorithms of BIVP – such as pheromone accumulation and iteration, neural cognitive computing mechanisms, the integration and scheduling of core modules, and brain-inspired perception, motion and control – in a step-by-step manner. Accordingly, it will appeal to university researchers, R&D engineers, undergraduate and graduate students; to anyone interested in robots, brain cognition or computer vision; and to all those wishing to learn about the core theory, principles, methods, algorithms, and applications of BIVP.

Book Synopsis Brain-Inspired Information Technology by : Akitoshi Hanazawa

Download or read book Brain-Inspired Information Technology written by Akitoshi Hanazawa. This book was released on 2010-09-22. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Brain-inspired information technology" is one of key concepts for the development of information technology in the next generation. Explosive progress of computer technology has been continuing based on a simple principle called "if-then rule". This means that the programmer of software have to direct every action of the computer programs in response to various inputs. There inherently is a limitation of complexity because we human have a limited capacity for managing complex systems. Actually, many bugs, mistakes of programming, exist in computer software, and it is quite difficult to extinguish them. The parts of computer programs where computer viruses attack are also a kind of programming mistakes, called security hole. Of course, human body or nervous system is not perfect. No creator or director, however, exists for us. The function of our brain is equipped by learning, self-organization, natural selection, and etc, resulting in adaptive and flexible information system. Brain-inspired information technology is aiming to realize such nature-made information processing system by using present computer system or specific hardware. To do so, researchers in various research fields are getting together to inspire each other and challenge cooperatively for the same goal.

Book Synopsis Brain-inspired IT 2 by : Kazuo Ishii

Download or read book Brain-inspired IT 2 written by Kazuo Ishii. This book was released on 2006. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second volume of "Brain-Inspired IT Series" includes five invited papers and 59 selected technical papers from the Second International Symposium "BrainIT 2005" which was held on in Kitakyushu, Japan, on October 7-9, 2005. The First International Symposium BrainIT 2004 was a great success, and provided the participants with good opportunities to exchange valuable information and various ideas from multidisciplinary research areas. A survey was made of the current state-of-the-art and the possibility to establish new research fields in the Brain-Inspired Information Technology was explored. In this second volume, it can be found that the seeds of BrainIT 2004 are growing and about to bloom as collaboration reaches among a wide variety of areas from biology to robotics. In the symposium BrainIT 2005, special sessions on "Decision and Behavioral Choice Organized by Natural and Artificial Brains" were provided besides technical sessions in a wide range of fields from Brain Science to Information Technology as well as the previous symposium. The first five invited papers are contributed by outstanding researchers in the area, and were presented in special sessions to discuss how the brain recognizes outer and inner worlds and organizes behavior expression, decision making and behavioral selection. The technical papers cover vision and sensory systems, cognition and languages, learning and memory, behavior and emotion, motor controls, dynamics, neural computation, neural networks, and brain-inspired intelligent machines, etc. It is hoped that this Brain-Inspired IT series will be a key milestone for researchers and students to pioneer the new field "Brain-Inspired Information Technology".
