Book Synopsis Applied Statistics For Agricultural Sciences by : D. Venkatesan

Download or read book Applied Statistics For Agricultural Sciences written by D. Venkatesan. This book was released on 2014-05-11. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Book is an introductory text, presenting some of the basic concepts and techniques of Statistical inference. It has been written primarily to suit the students and research workers in the area of agricultural science. An understanding of the logic and theory of statistics is essential for the students of agriculture who are expected to know the techniques of analysing data and drawing useful conclusions. It has been the intention of the authors to keep the book at a readability level appropriate for students who do not have a mathematical background. This book can serve as comprehensive reference source of statistical techniques helpful to agricultural research workers in the interpretation of data.

Book Synopsis Applied Statistics for Food and Agricultural Scientists by : Subhash C. Puri

Download or read book Applied Statistics for Food and Agricultural Scientists written by Subhash C. Puri. This book was released on 1980. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: An applied statistics text is offered for college students, teachers, research scientists, and those engaged in agriculture and the food industries. The sequence of topic presentation proceeds from data organization and tabulation, through graphing (to obtain the data distribution pattern), to analysis of the pattern (to determine location and dispersion parameters); interpretation of the results and report-writing are the final phases. A comprehensive range of direct statistical tests is covered, along with numerous examples and problems. Mathematical complexities and formula derivations are avoided; a knowledge of high school mathematics is sufficient to underastand and apply the statistical methods covered. (wz).

Book Synopsis Statistical Methods for Environmental and Agricultural Sciences by : Reza Hoshmand

Download or read book Statistical Methods for Environmental and Agricultural Sciences written by Reza Hoshmand. This book was released on 2017-11-22. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first edition of this book, popular around the world, is surpassed only by this new Second Edition. Improvements such as new and revised exercises, a broad range of practical and relevant case studies, and expanded theoretical concepts make this even better for users of statistics. The book emphasizes the practical application of statistics and provides examples in various fields of environmental and agriculture sciences. Because it uses simple, non-mathematical language to present statistical techniques, the reader requires only a familiarity with elementary algebra and mathematical notations to understand and apply the concepts described. This logically organized book covers the following topics: Part 1 introduces statistical concepts as they apply to different fields of environmental and agriculture sciences and provides descriptive measures of central tendency and variability; Part 2 covers probability and sampling concepts used in inferential statistics; Part 3 presents parametric methods in hypothesis testing, which include research designs; Part 4 discusses a number of nonparametric techniques; Part 5 explains tests of association and prediction; and lastly, analysis of change over time is detailed in Part 6. The appendices contain statistical tables for reference purposes.

Book Synopsis Statistics in Genetics and in the Environmental Sciences by : Luisa T. Fernholz

Download or read book Statistics in Genetics and in the Environmental Sciences written by Luisa T. Fernholz. This book was released on 2012-12-06. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Statistics is strongly tied to applications in different scientific disciplines, and the most challenging statistical problems arise from problems in the sciences. In fact, the most innovative statistical research flows from the needs of applications in diverse settings. This volume is a testimony to the crucial role that statistics plays in scientific disciplines such as genetics and environmental sciences, among others. The articles in this volume range from human and agricultural genetic DNA research to carcinogens and chemical concentrations in the environment and to space debris and atmospheric chemistry. Also included are some articles on statistical methods which are sufficiently general and flexible to be applied to many practical situations. The papers were refereed by a panel of experts and the editors of the volume. The contributions are based on the talks presented at the Workshop on Statistics and the Sciences, held at the Centro Stefano Franscini in Ascona, Switzerland, during the week of May 23 to 28, 1999. The meeting was jointly organized by the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology in Lausanne and Zurich, with the financial support of the Minerva Research Foundation. As the presentations at the workshop helped the participants recognize the po tential role that statistics can play in the sciences, we hope that this volume will help the reader to focus on the central role of statistics in the specific areas presented here and to extrapolate the results to further applications.
