Book Synopsis Kalman Filter Recent Advances and Applications by : Beata Akselsen

Download or read book Kalman Filter Recent Advances and Applications written by Beata Akselsen. This book was released on 2016-04-01. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Kalman filter is an algorithm that estimates the state of a system from measured data. It was predominantly developed by the Hungarian engineer Rudolf Kalman, for whom the filter is named. The filters algorithm is a two-step process: the first step predicts the state of the system, and the second step uses noisy measurements to refine the estimate of system state. There are now several variations of the original Kalman filter. The Kalman filter has plentiful applications in technology. A common application is for guidance, navigation and control of vehicles, particularly aircraft and spacecraft. Furthermore, the Kalman filter is a widely applied concept in time series analysis used in fields such as signal processing and econometrics. Kalman filters also are one of the main topics in the field of robotic motion planning and control, and they are sometimes included in trajectory optimization. Kalman filters are used for object tracking to predict an objects future location, to account for noise in an objects detected location, and to help associate multiple objects with their corresponding tracks. The output of the Kalman filter is denoted by the red circles and the object detection is denoted in black. Notice when the ball is occluded and there are no detections; the filter is used to predict its location. The purpose of the book entitled Kalman Filter Recent Advances and Applications is to provide an overview of recent developments in Kalman filter theory and their applications in engineering and scientific fields. This book corresponding to modern advances in Kalman filtering theory, solicitations in medical and biological sciences, tracking and positioning systems, electrical engineering and, finally, industrial processes and communication networks.

Book Synopsis Introduction and Implementations of the Kalman Filter by : Felix Govaers

Book excerpt: Sensor data fusion is the process of combining error-prone, heterogeneous, incomplete, and ambiguous data to gather a higher level of situational awareness. In principle, all living creatures are fusing information from their complementary senses to coordinate their actions and to detect and localize danger. In sensor data fusion, this process is transferred to electronic systems, which rely on some "awareness" of what is happening in certain areas of interest. By means of probability theory and statistics, it is possible to model the relationship between the state space and the sensor data. The number of ingredients of the resulting Kalman filter is limited, but its applications are not.

Book Synopsis Kalman Filters by : Fouad Sabry

Download or read book Kalman Filters written by Fouad Sabry. This book was released on 2023-06-27. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What Is Kalman Filters An algorithm that uses a series of measurements observed over time, including statistical noise and other inaccuracies, Kalman filtering is also known as linear quadratic estimation (LQE), and it produces estimates of unknown variables that tend to be more accurate than those that are based on a single measurement alone, by estimating a joint probability distribution over the variables for each timeframe. This is accomplished by estimating a joint probability distribution over the variables for each timeframe. Rudolf E. Kálmán, who was a significant contributor to the development of the theory behind the filter, is honored with the naming of the device.
