Book Synopsis An EMDR Therapy Primer by : Barbara J Hensley, Edd

Download or read book An EMDR Therapy Primer written by Barbara J Hensley, Edd. This book was released on 2024-11-28. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "An EMDR Therapy Primer: From Practicum to Practice, Fourth Edition, has been written from a practical, learning-focused approach, so that the clinicians who read it can become more familiar with the principles, protocols, and procedures of EMDR therapy. It aims to facilitate the flow of information so that clinicians can easily and naturally begin to use their EMDR therapy training as soon as possible. The book is also geared to help clinicians re-access information that was lost in the weeks, months, or years since they were last trained. Throughout the text are transcripts embellished with relevant details to illustrate important learning points. EMDR sessions have been created to demonstrate how to identify the touchstone event (if any), set up the procedural steps, deal with blocked processing and blocking beliefs during the Desensitization and Installation phases, reassess the state of previously targeted material, and identify material for new processing. An attempt is made to take the clinician through complete and incomplete EMDR therapy sessions, explaining treatment rationale at given points. Included in this edition are a few subtle and significant changes and improvements that have been incorporated throughout its chapters. These changes include the names of the first three phases of the standard EMDR treatment protocol, to reflect the precise goals of each phase; and putting more emphasis on developing an Adaptive Information Processing-informed case conceptualization and treatment plan, including identifying specific presenting problems or issues, prioritizing one issue/theme, and to selecting the memories to be processed"--
