Download or read book Algorithmic Trends in Computational Fluid Dynamics written by M.Y. Hussaini. This book was released on 2012-12-06. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of the ICASE/LaRC Work shop on the "Algorithmic Trends for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in the 90's" conducted by the Institute for Computer Applica tions in Science and Engineering (ICASE) and the Fluid Mechanics Division of NASA Langley Research Center during September 15-17, 1991. The purpose of the workshop was to bring together numerical analysts and computational fluid dynamicists i) to assess the state of the art in the areas of numerical analysis particularly relevant to CFD, ii) to identify promising new developments in various areas of numerical analysis that will have impact on CFD, and iii) to establish a long-term perspective focusing on opportunities and needs. This volume consists of five chapters - i) Overviews, ii) Accelera tion Techniques, iii) Spectral and Higher-Order Methods, iv) Multi Resolution/ Subcell Resolution Schemes (including adaptive meth ods), and v) Inherently Multidimensional Schemes. Each chapter covers a session of the Workshop. The chapter on overviews contains the articles by J.L. Steger, H.-O. Kreiss, R.W. MacCormack, O.

Book Synopsis Fundamental Algorithms in Computational Fluid Dynamics by : Thomas H. Pulliam

Download or read book Fundamental Algorithms in Computational Fluid Dynamics written by Thomas H. Pulliam. This book was released on 2014-03-31. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intended as a textbook for courses in computational fluid dynamics at the senior undergraduate or graduate level, this book is a follow-up to the book Fundamentals of Computational Fluid Dynamics by the same authors, which was published in the series Scientific Computation in 2001. Whereas the earlier book concentrated on the analysis of numerical methods applied to model equations, this new book concentrates on algorithms for the numerical solution of the Euler and Navier-Stokes equations. It focuses on some classical algorithms as well as the underlying ideas based on the latest methods. A key feature of the book is the inclusion of programming exercises at the end of each chapter based on the numerical solution of the quasi-one-dimensional Euler equations and the shock-tube problem. These exercises can be included in the context of a typical course and sample solutions are provided in each chapter, so readers can confirm that they have coded the algorithms correctly.

Book Synopsis New Developments in Computational Fluid Dynamics by : Kunio Kuwahara

Download or read book New Developments in Computational Fluid Dynamics written by Kunio Kuwahara. This book was released on 2005-11-29. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains 20 papers presented at the Sixth International Nobeyama Workshop on the New Century of Computational Fluid Dynamics, Nobeyama, Japan, April 21-24, 2003. The Nobeyama Workshop focuses on predicting the next one hundred years of development of Fluid Dynamics, accounting for the current status and future trends of high performance computation and communication. The papers cover computational electromagnetics, astrophysical topics, CFD research and applications in general, large-eddy simulation, vortical flows, mesh generation topics, visualization, DNA computing, multidisciplinary simulation and optimisation, as well as algorithmic developments. The Workshops are known for the informal and concentrated atmosphere of in-depth discussion thanks to all the efforts of Prof. Kunio Kuwahara at ISAS, Japan. In celebration of his 60th birthday, this workshop was dedicated to him.

Book Synopsis Efficient High-Order Discretizations for Computational Fluid Dynamics by : Martin Kronbichler

Download or read book Efficient High-Order Discretizations for Computational Fluid Dynamics written by Martin Kronbichler. This book was released on 2021-01-04. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book introduces modern high-order methods for computational fluid dynamics. As compared to low order finite volumes predominant in today's production codes, higher order discretizations significantly reduce dispersion errors, the main source of error in long-time simulations of flow at higher Reynolds numbers. A major goal of this book is to teach the basics of the discontinuous Galerkin (DG) method in terms of its finite volume and finite element ingredients. It also discusses the computational efficiency of high-order methods versus state-of-the-art low order methods in the finite difference context, given that accuracy requirements in engineering are often not overly strict. The book mainly addresses researchers and doctoral students in engineering, applied mathematics, physics and high-performance computing with a strong interest in the interdisciplinary aspects of computational fluid dynamics. It is also well-suited for practicing computational engineers who would like to gain an overview of discontinuous Galerkin methods, modern algorithmic realizations, and high-performance implementations.
