Book Synopsis Advanced Radiation Detector and Instrumentation in Nuclear and Particle Physics by : Rajendra Nath Patra

Download or read book Advanced Radiation Detector and Instrumentation in Nuclear and Particle Physics written by Rajendra Nath Patra. This book was released on 2023-03-12. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The RAPID2021 workshop focused on a specific and contemporary research topic: detector technology and electronics for nuclear and particle physics experiments as well as applications. In the RAPID2021, we had invited lectures, overview talks and contributed presentations by the scientists and young researchers from all around the world. In this workshop the papers presented are on the new developments at different experiments (ALICE, CMS, ATLAS) at CERN, new micro-pattern gas detectors development by RD51 collaboration at CERN, development of silicon pixel sensors at CERN, detectors for FAIR facilities in Germany, low energy experiments at different facilities, new detector ideas for nuclear and particle physics experiments, developments in electronics to overcome the challenges for the future LHC experiments, and application of the detectors on medical imaging. The proceedings of the workshop are quite helpful to document the new results, technologies, and developments by different groups and well known international laboratories like CERN, GSI, and Brookhaven National Laboratory. The publication of the scientists and young researchers will definitely be the new references for future studies on the same direction.

Book Synopsis Gaseous Radiation Detectors by : Fabio Sauli

Download or read book Gaseous Radiation Detectors written by Fabio Sauli. This book was released on 2014-06-12. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Widely used in high-energy and particle physics, gaseous radiation detectors are undergoing continuous development. The first part of this book provides a solid background for understanding the basic processes leading to the detection and tracking of charged particles, photons, and neutrons. Continuing then with the development of the multi-wire proportional chamber, the book describes the design and operation of successive generations of gas-based radiation detectors, as well as their use in experimental physics and other fields. Examples are provided of applications for complex events tracking, particle identification, and neutral radiation imaging. Limitations of the devices are discussed in detail. Including an extensive collection of data and references, this book is ideal for researchers and experimentalists in nuclear and particle physics.

Book Synopsis Techniques for Nuclear and Particle Physics Experiments by : William R. Leo

Download or read book Techniques for Nuclear and Particle Physics Experiments written by William R. Leo. This book was released on 1987. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is based on a laboratory course in nuclear physics given to advanced students. It treats the experimental techniques and instrumentationmost often used in nuclear and particle physics experiments as well as in various other experimental sciences. It provides most useful results and formulae, technical know-how and informative details on -interactionof radiation in matter; - radion protection and radioactive sources; - statistics for the interpretation and analysis of data; - principles and operation of the main types of detectors (ionization, scintillation and semiconductor detectors); - nuclear electronics instrumentation (NIM, CAMAC); - various systems and techniques for experiments. Thanks to the author's long teaching experience the material is presented in a verypractical, hands-on way making the book a useful text and lab companion for students and experienced scientists.
