Book Synopsis Adiós al capitalismo by : Jérôme Baschet

Download or read book Adiós al capitalismo written by Jérôme Baschet. This book was released on 2015-03. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Marx and Contemporary Critical Theory by : Antonio Oliva

Download or read book Marx and Contemporary Critical Theory written by Antonio Oliva. This book was released on 2020-07-10. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edited volume brings together an international and interdisciplinary group of scholars to explore the traces of the idea of “Real Abstraction” in Marx’s thought from the early to late writings, as well as the theoretical and practical consequences of this notion in the capitalist social system. Divided into two main parts, Part One reconstructs Marx’s notion of “Real Abstraction” and the influences of earlier thinkers (Berkley, Petty, Franklin, Feuerbach, Hegel) on his thoughts, as well as the further elaborations of this concept in later Marxist thinkers (Sohn-Rethel, Lukács, Lefebvre, Adorno and Postone). Part Two then considers the reverberations of the notion in the field of critical theory from a more abstract critique of capitalist social relations, to a more concrete understanding of historical movements. Taken together, the chapters in this volume offer a focused look at the concept of “Real Abstraction” in Marx.

Book Synopsis Bioregional Planning and Design: Volume I by : David Fanfani

Download or read book Bioregional Planning and Design: Volume I written by David Fanfani. This book was released on 2020-07-20. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a review of the bioregionalist theory in the field of spatial planning and design as a suitable approach to cope with the growing concerns about the negative effects of metropolization processes and the need for a sustainable transition. The book starts out with a section on rethinking places for community life, and discusses the reframing of regional governance and development as well as social justice in spatial planning. It introduces the concept of the urban bioregion, a pivotal concept that underpins balanced polycentric spatial patterns and supports self-reliant and fair local development. The second part of the book focuses on planning, and particularly on the issues that arise from the ‘circular’ recovery of the relation between city and agro-ecosystems for integrated planning and resilience of settlements and discusses topics such as foodshed planning, biophilic urbanism and the integration of rural development and spatial planning. This volume sets out the reference framework for Volume II which deals with more specific and operational issues related to spatial policies and settlement design.
