Download or read book Recommendations for prudent and responsible use of veterinary medicines in aquaculture written by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. This book was released on 2019-11-21. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These Technical Guidelines on the Prudent and Responsible Use of Veterinary Medicines in Aquaculture (No. 5 Suppl. 8) are developed to support Section 9 – Aquaculture Development of FAO’s Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries (CCRF) and The FAO Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance 2016–2020. They also support the international aquatic animal health standards of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), the food safety standards of the FAO/WHO Codex Alimentarius and the One Health platform under the FAO/OIE/WHO Tripartite Collaboration on antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Their objective is to assist countries in encouraging the prudent and responsible use of veterinary medicines (antimicrobials and other chemotherapeutants) in aquaculture production through appropriate government regulation and the promotion and encouragement of awareness and responsible use by the private sector. They emphasize, among the guiding principles, that responsible use of veterinary medicines in aquaculture requires collaboration among all stakeholders and a strong commitment to governance, awareness, best practices, surveillance and research, including monitoring of AMR, tracking of antimicrobial usage (AMU), assessing risk in different settings and evaluating strategies to reduce AMR and maintain efficacy of antimicrobials. They provide general guidance on the use of veterinary medicines in aquaculture to responsible government agencies, private-sector aquaculture producers and aquatic animal health professionals.

Download or read book Global guidance framework for the responsible use of the life sciences written by . This book was released on 2022-09-13. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The framework aims to provide global perspectives on principles, tools and mechanisms to support Member States and relevant stakeholders to mitigate and prevent biorisks and govern dual-use research. The framework adopts the One health approach and focuses on the role that responsible life sciences research can play in preventing and mitigating risks caused by accidents, inadvertent or deliberate misuse with the intention to cause harm to humans, nonhuman animals, plants and agriculture, and the environment. The framework is primarily intended for those who have responsibilities in the governance of biorisks, such as policy makers and regulators in charge of developing national policies to harness the potential benefits of the life sciences while constraining their risks. The framework is also directed towards scientists and research institutions, educators, trainers, project management staff, funding bodies, publishers, editors, the private sector and all relevant stakeholders that are part of the research life cycle. The governance of biorisks is an issue that should engage all countries, although countries will have different contexts, needs and starting points. Mitigating these risks will require individual and collective actions among different stakeholders and disciplines. Mitigating biorisks and governing dual-use research is a shared responsibility.

Book Synopsis Responsible Artificial Intelligence by : Virginia Dignum

Download or read book Responsible Artificial Intelligence written by Virginia Dignum. This book was released on 2019-11-04. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, the author examines the ethical implications of Artificial Intelligence systems as they integrate and replace traditional social structures in new sociocognitive-technological environments. She discusses issues related to the integrity of researchers, technologists, and manufacturers as they design, construct, use, and manage artificially intelligent systems; formalisms for reasoning about moral decisions as part of the behavior of artificial autonomous systems such as agents and robots; and design methodologies for social agents based on societal, moral, and legal values. Throughout the book the author discusses related work, conscious of both classical, philosophical treatments of ethical issues and the implications in modern, algorithmic systems, and she combines regular references and footnotes with suggestions for further reading. This short overview is suitable for undergraduate students, in both technical and non-technical courses, and for interested and concerned researchers, practitioners, and citizens.

Book Synopsis HC 245 - Responsible use of data by : Great Britain: Parliament: House of Commons: Science and Technology Committee

Download or read book HC 245 - Responsible use of data written by Great Britain: Parliament: House of Commons: Science and Technology Committee. This book was released on 2014. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Facebook's experiment with users emotions highlighted serious concerns about the extent to which, ticking the terms and conditions box, can be said to constitute informed consent when it comes to the varied ways data is now being used by many websites and apps. Most people click yes to terms and conditions contracts without reading them, because they are often laughably long and written in legalese that can be difficult to understand. Socially responsible companies wouldn't want to confuse their users and should be happy to sign up to new guidelines on clear communication and informed consent. A line also needs to be drawn between the information that apps actually need to provide a service and the kind of personal information they often request when registering new users, information that is becoming increasingly valuable in our networked society. It is vital that companies effectively communicate how they intend to use personal data collected from users of services and if terms and conditions cannot be made easier to understand then this must be explained separately. This report suggests that an internationally recognised Kitemark could be the first step in ensuring the responsible use of UK citizens' data. The Government must also audit all public sector online services and ensure that they provide easy to understand information about their own usage of personal data. The Government must learn lessons and develop a privacy impact assessment for policies that collect, retain or process personal data
