Book Synopsis The Chemistry of Metal-Organic Frameworks by : Stefan Kaskel

Download or read book The Chemistry of Metal-Organic Frameworks written by Stefan Kaskel. This book was released on 2016-06-14. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Providing vital knowledge on the design and synthesis of specific metal-organic framework (MOF) classes as well as their properties, this ready reference summarizes the state of the art in chemistry. Divided into four parts, the first begins with a basic introduction to typical cluster units or coordination geometries and provides examples of recent and advanced MOF structures and applications typical for the respective class. Part II covers recent progress in linker chemistries, while special MOF classes and morphology design are described in Part III. The fourth part deals with advanced characterization techniques, such as NMR, in situ studies, and modelling. A final unique feature is the inclusion of data sheets of commercially available MOFs in the appendix, enabling experts and newcomers to the field to select the appropriate MOF for a desired application. A must-have reference for chemists, materials scientists, and engineers in academia and industry working in the field of catalysis, gas and water purification, energy storage, separation, and sensors.

Book Synopsis Metal-Organic and Organic Molecular Magnets by : Peter Day

Download or read book Metal-Organic and Organic Molecular Magnets written by Peter Day. This book was released on 2007-10-31. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Traditionally, magnetic materials have been metals or, if inorganic compounds such as oxides, of continuous lattice type. However, in recent years chemists have synthesized increasing numbers of crystalline solids based on molecular building blocks in the form of coordination and organometallic complexes or purely organic molecules, which exhibit spontaneous magnetization. In striking contrast to conventional magnets, these materials are made from solutions close to room temperature rather than by metallurgical or ceramic methods. This book, which originates from contributions to a Discussion Meeting of The Royal Society of London, brings together many of the leading international practitioners in the field, who survey their own recent work and place it in the context of the wider fields of magnetism and supramolecular chemistry. All aspects of molecular-based magnets are addressed, including synthesis, structure-property relations and physical properties. Contents include details of the characterization of the first purely organic ferromagnet, the synthesis of high coercivity materials and a unique description of new materials with Curie temperatures well above ambient. A coherent survey of this rapidly developing field for the more general reader, Metal-Organic and Organic Molecular Magnets will also be welcomed by researchers and lecturers in materials science and inorganic or solid state chemistry.

Book Synopsis Metal-Organic Frameworks by : Lars Öhrström

Download or read book Metal-Organic Frameworks written by Lars Öhrström. This book was released on 2021-03-25. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some 80,000 metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been reported as of 2020. With intriguing structures and fascinating properties, MOFs are poised to be a defining material of the 21st century with a great deal of commercial potential from methane fuel automobile tanks to carbon capturing. Metal-Organic Frameworks provides an introduction to the complex world of MOFs. Researchers new to MOFs can use this work as a jumping-off point for theoretical study or applied research. The work is broad and expansive in scope, but inclusive and comprehensive in detail. The authors provide a personal perspective of MOF research that provides a strong foundation in the basic methods and themes as well as directs the reader in how to think about MOFs. Sixteen MOF structures are animated, providing more clarity into the dimensionality of MOFs. Accompanying links take the reader to additional 3-D structures provided by The Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre (CCDC).

Book Synopsis World Scientific Reference On Spin In Organics (In 4 Volumes) by : Zeev Valy Vardeny

Download or read book World Scientific Reference On Spin In Organics (In 4 Volumes) written by Zeev Valy Vardeny. This book was released on 2017-12-27. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This reference work on Spin in Organics contains four volumes dedicated to spin injection, spin transport, spin pumping, organic magnetic field effect, and molecular spintronics. The field of Organic Spintronics has accelerated and matured in the last dozen years with the realization of an organic spin-valve (in 2004) and magneto-resistance and magneto-electroluminescence in organic optoelectronic devices (2006).The book series is comprehensive in that it summarizes all aspects of Organic Spintronics to date. The first two volumes deal with spin injection, spin transport, spin manipulation and spin pumping into organic semiconductors. The main device that is thoroughly discussed here is the organic spin-valve, where spinterface states at the interface between the organic semiconductor and the ferromagnetic (FM) electrode has been the focus of many chapters. An interesting emerging subject is the role of chirality in the organic layer of the device. A relatively new method of achieving spin aligned carriers in organic semiconductors is spin pumping, where magnons in the FM substrate generate spin aligned carriers in the organic layer at the FM/organic interface. The third volume deals mainly with magnetic field effect in organic devices. Several spin-mixture processes that lead to magnetic field effect in devices and films are thoroughly discussed, such as hyperfine interaction, direct spin-orbit coupling, indirect spin-orbit coupling via Δg, triplet-triplet annihilation, and thermal spin alignment. The similarity between the magnetic field effect obtained in optoelectronic devices based on organic semiconductors and the novel hybrid organic-inorganic semiconductors is also a subject of intense interest. The fourth volume deals with spin in molecular films and devices. It includes thorough discussion of spin exchange interaction that leads to organic ferromagnets, as well as manifestation of various spin interactions in thin molecular films and devices.
