Book Synopsis Bioenergy and Biochar by : Dimitrios Kalderis

Download or read book Bioenergy and Biochar written by Dimitrios Kalderis. This book was released on 2021-09-10. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dear Colleagues, All types of biomass, and their waste, comprised one the pillars of the preindustrial, pre-fossil fuel, agriculture-based economies of the past. Traditional practices of biomass waste management were applied, but not necessarily in a sophisticated and efficient way, and included everything from agricultural activities to food production, animal feed, natural fiber separation, and processing of forest wood. The modern bioeconomy sector, however, includes new circular economy energy and materials streams of added-value products, such as gaseous, liquid and solid biofuels and bioenergy generation routes, and biochar production, along with all the previously mentioned traditional products emerging from the bioeconomy. This Special Issue includes some of the latest bioenergy and biochar advancements and their incorporation into a bioeconomy in transition. It focuses on nature, properties, upgrading, and bioenergy generation processes from all types of biomass waste and biochars originating from biomass waste. The multidisciplinarity of bioenergy and biochar research is evident throughout the Special Issue, highlighting the highly variable and tunable processes involved in biomass handling, pre-processing, converting to biochar, and recovering energy. Book Synopsis Waste to Sustainable Energy by : Lakhveer Singh

Download or read book Waste to Sustainable Energy written by Lakhveer Singh. This book was released on 2019-03-13. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With no emissions and water as a byproduct, the globe could imagine a sustainable and resilient human kind that obliterates any possible chances of future climate change. With increased globalization, there has been an unprecedented escalation in production processes thus generating valued products and byproducts. A significant quantum of the waste materials generated can be transformed into fuels with the help of MFCs. MFC’s utilities would bring about a paradigm shift built on the principles of sustainability, encompassing closed loop biorefinery approach. A MFC’s bio-refinery ensures complete allocation of products and byproducts in various processes yielding zero waste. Such efforts would not only help in managing waste but also contribute to generation of renewable fuel and valued products that fosters sustainable development. To cater to the needs of the present challenges in waste management, bioenergy and bio product recovery and commercial sustainability, this book on MFCs will emphasize and throw light on various mechanisms, routes and reaction engineering approaches for complete transformation of waste to wealth.

Book Synopsis Valorization of Biomass Wastes for Environmental Sustainability by : Arun Lal Srivastav

Download or read book Valorization of Biomass Wastes for Environmental Sustainability written by Arun Lal Srivastav. This book was released on 2024. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Zusammenfassung: This volume discusses the reduction, recycling, and reuse of industrial and agricultural biomass wastes to develop value-added products using environmentally sustainable practices and technologies. Through these waste valorization approaches, biomass waste materials can be converted into useful bio-chemical products, sustainable construction materials, polymers, bio-energy, and bio-fuel as sustainable alternatives to products and materials with negative environmental and health consequences. The chapters highlight the development and implementation of eco-friendly solutions to biomass waste production with the aim of reducing natural resource deterioration, bolstering rural and small-scale business systems in communities impacted by pollution and climate change, and providing power from residual biomass to broadly reduce environmental impacts through improved waste management practices. The book is intended to be a useful resource for researchers, policymakers, NGOs, government agencies, and local community authorities working in waste management and environmental sustainability
