Book Synopsis The Organic Chemistry of Aliphatic Nitrogen Compounds by : Ben R. Brown

Download or read book The Organic Chemistry of Aliphatic Nitrogen Compounds written by Ben R. Brown. This book was released on 1994. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years there have been considerable advances in organonitrogen chemistry, and many important new reagents and synthetic methods have been developed. This is a comprehensive, definitive modern account of the organic chemistry of aliphatic nitrogen compounds, which will serve as aninvaluable reference for all workers in the field. Each chapter begins with a brief introduction, which is followed by a detailed account of the preparation of the type of compound under consideration. Reactivity and reactions - including mechanistic aspects - are then discussed. All the main classes of compound, with the exception of aminoacids, are included. The book is highly referenced and provides a unique review of an important area of organic chemistry.

Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Organic Chemistry of Nitrogen This book originated in lectures given to more advanced students in Oxford. Its object is thus primarily educational, and it is in no sense intended as a work of reference. I have endeavoured to give an account of the present state of knowledge on those parts of the subject which are of the greatest theoretical interest, and at the same time to avoid overloading the text with the names of less important substances. In dealing with the vast group of heterocyclic compounds, I have thought it better not to attempt even an enumeration of all the known types of ring; but I have selected a few of the more important, and discussed these in detail. I have assumed throughout that the reader has at least an elementary knowledge of organic and of general chemistry. It is becoming generally recognized that organic chemistry cannot be treated satisfactorily without reference to those questions of physical chemistry which it involves. To attempt a separation of the two is to refuse all the assistance which can be derived from what is really the quantitative side of chemistry. The various physical questions are therefore discussed as they arise. A full treatment of the phenomena of tautomerism would have required too great an interruption of the main current of thought; but I have tried to indicate the more important points in which they are illustrated by the bodies under consideration. The dynamics of organic reactions is a field which, in spite of the increasing amount of attention recently devoted to it, is still very largely unexplored; and yet it is of the utmost value for elucidating the mechanism of chemical change. Book Synopsis The Chemistry of Nitrogen-rich Functional Groups by : Alexander Greer

Download or read book The Chemistry of Nitrogen-rich Functional Groups written by Alexander Greer. This book was released on 2019-12-31. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nitrogen is unique among the non-carbon atoms in its ability to form single, double, and triple bonds with itself, giving rise to a wide range of organic-chemical groups containing several nitrogen atoms in different states and geometries. The present volume surveys the properties and chemical behaviour of all important nitrogen-rich organic-chemical groups, including azides, azimines, aziridines, diazo compounds, nitramines, nitrenes, nitrosamines, polyazine N-oxides, tetrazoles, triazanes, triazenes, and triazoles. A special focus lies on commercially important species which are used, e. g., as powerful explosives. PATAI's Chemistry of Functional Groups publishes comprehensive reviews on all aspects of specific functional groups. Each volume contains outstanding surveys on theoretical and computational aspects, NMR, MS, other spectroscopic methods and analytical chemistry, structural aspects, thermochemistry, photochemistry, synthetic approaches and strategies, synthetic uses and applications in chemical and pharmaceutical industries, biological, biochemical and environmental aspects. To date, almost 150 volumes have been published in the series.
