Book Synopsis Process–Structure–Properties in Polymer Additive Manufacturing by : Swee Leong Sing

Download or read book Process–Structure–Properties in Polymer Additive Manufacturing written by Swee Leong Sing. This book was released on 2021-09-01. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Additive manufacturing (AM) methods have grown and evolved rapidly in recent years. AM for polymers is an exciting field and has great potential in transformative and translational research in many fields, such as biomedical, aerospace, and even electronics. Current methods for polymer AM include material extrusion, material jetting, vat polymerisation, and powder bed fusion. With the promise of more applications, detailed understanding of AM—from the processability of the feedstock to the relationship between the process–structure–properties of AM parts—has become more critical. More research work is needed in material development to widen the choice of materials for polymer additive manufacturing. Modelling and simulations of the process will allow the prediction of microstructures and mechanical properties of the fabricated parts while complementing the understanding of the physical phenomena that occurs during the AM processes. In this book, state-of-the-art reviews and current research are collated, which focus on the process–structure–properties relationships in polymer additive manufacturing.

Book Synopsis Structure and Properties of Additive Manufactured Polymer Components by : Klaus Friedrich

Download or read book Structure and Properties of Additive Manufactured Polymer Components written by Klaus Friedrich. This book was released on 2020-06-18. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Structure and Properties of Additive Manufactured Polymer Components provides a state-of-the-art review from leading experts in the field who discuss key developments that have appeared over the last decade or so regarding the use of additive manufacturing (AM) methods in the production of neat and reinforced polymeric components. A major focus is given to materials science aspects, i.e., how the quality of the polymer preforms, the parameters of the chosen AM method, and how these factors can affect the microstructure and properties of the final product. The book not only covers production technologies and the relationship between processing, microstructure and fundamental properties of the produced parts, but also gives readers ideas on the use of AM polymer parts in medicine, automotive, aerospace, tribology, electronics, and more. Focuses on industrial aspects and applications Dedicated purely to recent advances in polymer composite additive manufacturing Emphasizes processing, structure and property relationships

Book Synopsis Additive Manufacturing of Polymer-Based Composite Materials by : Fabienne Touchard

Download or read book Additive Manufacturing of Polymer-Based Composite Materials written by Fabienne Touchard. This book was released on 2024-06-28. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Additive Manufacturing of Polymer Composites: Materials, Processes, and Properties presents the latest developments in AM of polymer matrix composites and illustrates the large range of composite materials that can be obtained. Different technologies with their own specificities such as: fused filament fabrication, selective laser sintering, stereolithography, and direct-ink-writing. Composites with chopped or continuous reinforcement, with synthetic or natural fibers, with thermoplastic or thermoset resin are compared and described in detail. Their thermal, physical, electrical, and mechanical properties are discussed. The book is dedicated to professionals involved in engineering design and production, as well as industrial communities who want to gain in-depth knowledge in the field of 3D printed composites. Provides an overview of different methods for additive manufacturing of polymer-based matrix composites Covers long and short fiber-based composites and corresponding application examples Addresses the development and properties of a wide range of matrices (thermoplastics, thermosets), and fibers (natural and synthetic) in a user-specified orientation, continuous or random organization and hierarchical structures Presents sustainability and structural reliability of composite structures Displays a careful balance between materials science and technology, providing a detailed understanding of how composites’ properties, processing, performance, and structure are interrelated
