Download or read book Monotonicity Failures Afflicting Procedures for Electing a Single Candidate written by Dan S. Felsenthal. This book was released on 2017-02-08. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an evaluation of 18 voting procedures in terms of the most important monotonicity-related criteria in fixed and variable electorates. All voting procedures studied aim at electing one out of several candidates given the voters' preferences over the candidates. In addition to (strict) monotonicity failures, the vulnerability of the procedures to variation of the no-show paradoxes is discussed. All vulnerabilities are exemplified and explained. The occurrence of the no-show paradoxes is related to the presence or absence of a Condorcet winner. The primary readership of this book are scholars and students in the area of social choice.

Book Synopsis The Future of Economic Design by : Jean-François Laslier

Download or read book The Future of Economic Design written by Jean-François Laslier. This book was released on 2019-11-15. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of essays represents responses by over eighty scholars to an unusual request: give your high level assessment of the field of economic design, as broadly construed. Where do we come from? Where do we go from here? The book editors invited short, informal reflections expressing deeply felt but hard to demonstrate opinions, unsupported speculation, and controversial views of a kind one might not normally risk submitting for review. The contributors – both senior researchers who have shaped the field and promising, younger researchers – responded with a diverse collection of provocative pieces, including: retrospective assessments or surveys of the field; opinion papers; reflections on critical points for the development of the discipline; proposals for the immediate future; "science fiction"; and many more. The readers should have fun reading these unusual pieces – as much as the contributors enjoyed writing them.

Download or read book Transactions on Computational Collective Intelligence XXXI written by Ngoc Thanh Nguyen. This book was released on 2018-12-29. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These transactions publish research in computer-based methods of computational collective intelligence (CCI) and their applications in a wide range of fields such as the semantic web, social networks, and multi-agent systems. TCCI strives to cover new methodological, theoretical and practical aspects of CCI understood as the form of intelligence that emerges from the collaboration and competition of many individuals (artificial and/or natural). The application of multiple computational intelligence technologies, such as fuzzy systems, evolutionary computation, neural systems, consensus theory, etc., aims to support human and other collective intelligence and to create new forms of CCI in natural and/or artificial systems. This thirty-first issue presents 12 selected papers from the 3rd Seminar on Quantitative Methods of Group Decision Making which was held in November 2017 at the WSB University in Wroclaw.
