Book excerpt: The fusion of drones and Industry 5.0 has emerged as a transformative force, redefining the landscape of industrial progress. Drone Applications for Industry 5.0 reveals the strong connection between drones and Industry 5.0, exploring how they come together to blend human skills with automated precision. As we stand on the horizon of the fifth industrial revolution, Industry 5.0 uniquely celebrates the return of the human touch, harmonizing the strengths of machines with human intuition and empathy. Drones play a pivotal role in shaping this evolutionary transition. The narrative unfolds against the backdrop of historical industrial revolutions, each marked by radical transformations. Unlike its predecessors, Industry 5.0 places humans at the center, emphasizing collaboration with machines. Drones have matured into invaluable instruments with applications spanning manufacturing, agriculture, transportation, and emergency services. Drone Applications for Industry 5.0 embarks on a journey, guiding scholars, researchers, and students through the foundations of Industry 5.0 and the mechanics of drones. It explores practical uses in various fields, offering both theory and practical insights which empowers professionals to fully utilize drones.

Book Synopsis Industry Dynamics and Industry 4.0 by : Bernardino Quattrociocchi

Download or read book Industry Dynamics and Industry 4.0 written by Bernardino Quattrociocchi. This book was released on 2022-07-20. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The so-called Fourth Industrial Revolution has prompted companies to adapt to a new business paradigm based on digital interconnection and the ability to respond quickly to the needs of consumers and users. These conditions are closely related to the advent of digital technologies that enable the real-time integration of devices and the control of production systems through technological platforms. Based on this logic, this volume aims to investigate the forms and methods being used by the company at present to confront the new business paradigm, commonly known as Industry 4.0, as well as the impact of new digital technologies on corporate evolutionary dynamics and related business models. More specifically, technological challenges will assess the impact of new technologies on productivity and investment in complementary resources—including human, organizational, and managerial capital—as well as the effects related to the introduction of Internet of Things (IoT)-based production processes. By following this approach, the focus subsequently shifts to drone technology, which is considered by many to be one of the most revolutionary Industry 4.0 technologies. In addition to investigating the history and potential applications of drones, many of which proved to be fundamental during the COVID-19 pandemic, the volume emphasizes the related ethical and social aspects such as the degree of knowledge regarding and the public acceptance of drones. The academic and professional approach of this volume allows it to serve as a guide for professionals, entrepreneurs, and academics with a particular interest in both digital innovation and the drone sector.

Book Synopsis Drones as Cyber-Physical Systems by : Jung-Sup Um

Download or read book Drones as Cyber-Physical Systems written by Jung-Sup Um. This book was released on 2019-01-31. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces the concept of using drones as a teaching tool to explore the fundamental principles, technology and applications of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). A short introduction sets CPS in the context of the 4th industrial revolution, and describes various CPS technologies including self-driving cars, commercial intelligent drones and mobile robots, in which artificial intelligence routinely supports smarter decision-making. The core of the book then focuses on commercially available drones, the only available system offering the advantage of cyber-physical bridging through 3D autonomous dynamic flying in classroom conditions. Chapters describe drone technology, including location sensors and imaging systems. CPS theory is explained through typical drone flying procedures and do-it-yourself (DIY) aerial photography in which communication between sensors, actuators and controllers occurs through cyber-physical bi-directional bridging. This book opens new possibilities in fostering 4th industrial revolution literacy, introducing relevant examples from readily available equipment, making core elements of cyber-physical bridging accessible. It is aimed primarily at those students who have an interest in CPS, drones and those from disciplines that are concerned with spatial information.
