Book Synopsis Atlas of PET/CT in Pediatric Patients by : Angelina Cistaro

Download or read book Atlas of PET/CT in Pediatric Patients written by Angelina Cistaro. This book was released on 2013-11-08. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This richly illustrated book presents the pediatric applications of PET/CT in the full range of scenarios frequently encountered in a professional setting. It opens with a thorough introduction covering the fundamental science and the clinical basis for use of PET/CT in this age group. Pitfalls and artifacts are examined, and normal variations and benign findings are carefully described. Each subsequent chapter addresses the role of PET/CT with different radiopharmaceuticals in the evaluation and management of a specific disease. The full range of oncological diseases is covered, including the rare ones. Succinct descriptions of clinical cases are included and, when appropriate, comparisons are made with other modalities. In addition, the role of PET/CT in biopsy guidance and in radiation therapy planning is explained. This book will be invaluable for residents and practitioners in nuclear medicine, radiology, oncology, radiation oncology, and nuclear medicine technology

Book Synopsis Pediatric PET Imaging by : Martin Charron

Download or read book Pediatric PET Imaging written by Martin Charron. This book was released on 2006-11-22. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Positron emission tomography (PET) has been at the forefront of fu- tional and molecular imaging for a number of years. The future of di- nostic imaging depends upon the ability to change from imaging anatomy to examining the processes at work in the body. The fact that there are now monographs examining particular aspects of PET, such as this book on the examination of children, speaks to the newly won maturity of PET. The authors are to be congratulated for the timely appearance of this volume. In recent years, PET has transformed the contributions of nuclear medicine to the diagnosis, staging, and follow-up of patients with cancer. Children with cancer deserve the very best and most comp- sionate care that society can provide. Ultimately the greatest comp- sion we can offer as physicians is to provide the best possible care. Those charged with creating public policy in the context of diagnostic medicine must make common cause with physicians and other sci- tists to ensure that that best possible care is realized at the bedside. All of the evidence suggests that PET is central to such optimal cancer care. In addition to the distinguished cast of physicians and researchers who contributed to this book, I welcome the contributions from te- nologists who are a key part of the interaction between the diagnostic process and the sick or potentially sick child. Good care is contingent upon putting parents and child at ease, and the technologist has a lead role in this.

Book Synopsis Atlas of PET-CT Imaging in Oncology by : Tamer Özülker

Download or read book Atlas of PET-CT Imaging in Oncology written by Tamer Özülker. This book was released on 2015-06-30. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This atlas is a case-based guide to the interpretation of FDG PET-CT images in clinical scenarios faced by physicians during the routine practice of oncology. The book aims to help the practitioner to overcome diagnostic dilemmas through familiarization with the physiologic distribution of FDG, normal variants and benign findings. The main focus, however, is the imaging of major oncological diseases. Different pathologies are addressed in individual chapters comprising teaching files of cases, each of which corresponds to a common indication for PET-CT imaging, such as metabolic characterization of lesions, staging, restaging and evaluation of response to therapy. Each case is accompanied by an explanation of the patient’s history, interpretation of the PET-CT study, and a teaching point often supported by relevant literature. This book will be of great value to residents and practitioners in nuclear medicine, radiology, oncology, radiation oncology and nuclear medicine technology.

Book Synopsis Atlas of PET-CT by : Stefano Fanti

Download or read book Atlas of PET-CT written by Stefano Fanti. This book was released on 2019-02-06. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new atlas, the fourth of a successful series, is a completely revised and updated edition of a previously published FDG PET-CT atlas. In the past few years, considerable progress has been made in the field of PET-CT imaging, and this new edition takes full account of these recent developments. Furthermore, its educational mission has been broadened: beyond serving as a straightforward guide to FDG PET-CT imaging it now encompasses the integrative use of contrast-enhanced CT and MRI. The new edition also includes non-oncological indications for FDG PET-CT. The atlas aims to help imaging practitioners to recognize physiological and benign pathological FDG uptake and illustrates in a case-based, practical manner the PET-CT appearances of all the major tumors and infectious, inflammatory, and neurodegenerative disorders. The main clinical applications are covered, and learning points and pitfalls are clearly articulated. The consistent, user-friendly format facilitates image interpretation and allows rapid review of key information needed for FDG PET-CT imaging.
